Unexpected Love

This is a poem I wrote a long time ago at the first of our relationship, just thought I'd share it with you!

Throughout our lives we never think love will come our way

Until that special someone pops into your life one day

So unexpectedly, here you came into mine

Came so suddenly, just in the nick of time

You were truly a love at first sight

And I shall never forget that wonderful night

I never expected to receive such a gift

But you and God both worked together to change it

You came along and swept me off my feet

Your love makes my heart skip a beat

I'm the happiest I've ever been in my entire life

I have you to thank for that, that's no lie

I just want you to know that you are my world

And I will love you forever, you have my word

How he proposed...

Okay, so our anniversary of being together as I said in my other post is July 4th. Well, the weekend of back in 2007, we went with some friends to Lake Conroe. When we were hanging out on the docks, I gave him our 1 yr. anniversary gift. I had a lighter engraved for him which said "Love of My Life", since we had made that our song. Later that night after our friends had gone to sleep, we stayed up on the balcony of the hotel we were staying at and talked for hours about how we felt and our relationship. He originally told me that he hadn't wanted to do this without having the ring first but he was ready to ask, so he leaned down in front of me and asked me "Will you marry me?" Of course I said yes, and then we just hugged for the longest time! Then of course he made me wait until Christmas Eve to give me my ring!

How it all began...

Well, I first met Cory back in 2006. It happened one night when my best friend, Cristina was in town, we went out to watch some karaoke. I invited a friend I used to work with to join us and he happened to be working with Cory at the time so he asked Cory to come up as well. And here's something funny, Cristina and I were coming out of the bathroom, Cory and her started both smiling and sayin' "what are you doing here?" Yep, you guessed it, they knew each other, turned out they dated way back when and remained friends. So they were catching up and all, I was sitting there being shy (that's just me lol), and thinking how cute I thought he was. He started to make conversation with me, we got to talking and he gave me his number. From then on, we talked many times for hours on end getting to know each other, and before I knew it we had our first date and became a couple. And now this July 4th, we will be together for 6 yrs.
